Planning Sub Meet and Confer, Co-Chair, 2006-2007; member 2007 – 2008
As a body with representation from many facets of the University community, this sub-meet and confer has members from all collective bargaining units, and, in collaboration with Budget and Assessment representatives, leads the medium to long-range planning of the University.

The Collaboration, Board of Directors, 2007 – present
The Collaboration for the Advancement of College Teaching and Learning is an alliance of colleges and universities that supports and promotes outstanding college teaching and learning. The Board of Directors is charged with oversight and implementation of the mission.

President’s Commission on Diversity, Co-Chair, 2006 – present
The President’s Commission on Diversity is charged with assisting the University in implementation of the Diversity Plan and diversity initiatives.  The Commission informs the President of concerns and successes; takes the lead in posing difficult questions and inviting comment from the University community; reviews progress in the implementation of the Diversity Plan and consults with other offices and committees with regard to diversity objectives.

Mediation, Negotiation Training and Service
Negotiation Skills Workshop, Mediation Works Inc, Boston (fall 2007). Completed Levels I and II Mediation Training (2002-2003) offered by the Dispute Resolution Institute, and assisted with training of Level I participants. Under Rule 114, Minnesota General Rules of Practice, Qualified Neutral, I am completing eligibility requirements for inclusion on the Minnesota Supreme Court Roster of Qualified Neutrals.  On-campus, national and international mediation and negotiation.

Faculty Association, Executive Committee, 2006-2007
Minnesota State Mankato is part of a system that has collective bargaining; as elected Faculty Chair of the Planning Sub-Meet and Confer, I held a seat on our Executive Committee, the faculty leadership core, and was a seated member of the Faculty Association/ Administration Meet and Confer.

Faculty Development Activities

  • Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Faculty Fellow, 2006-2007. Working actively to improve the quality of teaching and learning on campus, the MSU Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning has initiated a number of programs to support instructors and instructional practices. I have served as a Peer Consultant, as Mentor to individual faculty, and as Director of the Mentor Program.  Recent professional meetings include Professional and Organizational Development National Conference, MnSCU Center for Teaching and Learning Fall Conference, Middlesex Carnegie Summer Institute.
  • Initiative to Promote Excellence in Student Learning, Facilitator, 2006-2007

Department of Aviation
I served as Internal Consultant (2003-2004) to the Department of Aviation to assist with their program review, self-study, work in assessment, and creation and implementation of a new plan following a period of challenges to the program.  Aviation Search Committee Chair, 2005-2006, with two new tenure-track hires.

Cultural Diversity Council, Minnesota State University, Mankato
During the early years of the Cultural Diversity Council I helped to initiate and implement departmental collaborations for culturally diverse University presentations and consultancies. I have held various terms since 1999.

Summer Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration
